Role Purpose

To direct and lead the planning, coordination and management of all engineering processes, initiatives, and activities for projects across Nesma & Partners, aligned with strategic objectives, to ensure technical excellence, project success and efficient engineering operations, while achieving desired outcomes in adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Contribution

  • Ensure effective cascading of the Engineering strategy into operating plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies.

People Management

  • Manage the effective achievement of Engineering objectives through the leadership of the Engineering department by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing, and motivating staff to maximize sectional performance.
  • Lead the talent development initiatives for Engineering, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the Engineering to foster a value driven culture within the organization.

Budgeting and Financial Planning

  • Monitor financial performance versus the budget while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.

Key Accountabilities

Engineering Management

  • Contribute to the formulation of and oversee the implementation of engineering framework, plans and strategies for Nesma & Partners in line with the operational and project requirements whilst achieving optimal cost efficiencies.
  • Provide leadership expertise and overall direction to the engineering process and phases in line with approved project parameters, standards, and legislation to contribute to the engineering operational efficiency and successful delivery of projects.
  • Lead the entire Engineering project life cycle, from conceptualization to delivery, coordinating with stakeholders, performing quality control, and providing feedback to Director - Design & Engineering on engineering deliverables to ensure the successful planning, execution, and completion of the projects while meeting its objectives and adhering to established timelines and budgets.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and project managers to ensure that project objectives are clearly defined, and project engineering needs, requirements and specifications are correctly understood.

Key Accountabilities

Engineering Management

  • Contribute to the evaluation of the feasibility of engineering projects by providing input, considering technical constraints to establish if a project is viable and aligns with the organization's goals and vision.
  • Resolve any engineering project-related issues to ensure that deliverables adhere to industry best practices, codes, and standards.
  • Drive the adherence to ISO procedures across Engineering to ensure standardization, consistency, and quality in engineering practices and processes.
  • Uphold ethical standards across all engineering operations to ensure compliance with professional codes of conduct and promote a culture of ethical behavior.
  • Conduct research to stay updated with the latest industry trends, advancements, and best practices related to engineering practices and technologies.
  • Provide support to the Director - Design & Engineering on driving effective engineering practices across all Nesma & Partners’ projects to instill engineering principles and operational efficiency into the organization’s culture.

Key Accountabilities

Safety and Quality Assurance

  • Lead and monitor the implementation of protocols and regulations during engineering activities to ensure compliance, quality, and safety across Nesma & Partners projects.
  • Perform quality checks on engineering deliverables to ensure it aligns with project specifications and quality standards.

Project Management

  • Participate in project planning sessions to provide input on engineering timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Take ownership of the engineering life cycle to correctly identify project scope, costs, and requirements, contributing to successful project delivery.
  • Monitor and track the progress of engineering operations to ensure adherence to project schedule, deliverables, and quality standards.

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration

  • Liaise with relevant cross-functional teams (e.g., Project Managers, Site Engineers, procurement, stakeholders) to ensure engineering activities align with project specifications and objectives.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and consultants to facilitate successful project execution as per required quality standards.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Manage and ensure effective implementation of policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of Engineering activity so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements, are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost- effective service.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) Management

  • Manage the effective implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and processes to promote a culture focusing on the achievement of world-class standards in QHSE and sustainability within Engineering in line with regulatory requirements.

Reporting

  • Ensure that all Engineering reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet Nesma & Partners requirements, policies, and quality standards.

Technical Essential

Education/Certification

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Architecture, or any other related field.

Experience

  • 8 years’ related experience with 3 years’ experience with growing managerial accountability in roles within similar positions.

Languages

  • English

  • Project Management, Quality Control Management, Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment, Cost Control & Budgeting, Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance Knowledge.

Techical Preferred

Education/Certification

  • Masters in Engineering Management, or any other related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar certifications.

Experience

  • Experience in the EPC industry.
