Role Purpose

Develop and maintain effective health, safety, environmental programs, and contribute to a workplace where employees can work confidently, knowing that their health and safety are prioritized, and where environmental sustainability is a core value.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Contribution

  • Ensure effective cascading of the HSSE strategy into operating plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies.

People Management

  • Manage the effective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadership of the HSSE department by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing, and motivating staff to maximize sectional performance.
  • Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned department, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the assigned department to foster a value driven culture within the organization.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Manage and ensure effective implementation of policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of HSSE department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

Operational Direction

  • Develop, communicate, and implement HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Identify potential hazards and assess risks in the workplace. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and prevent accidents.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees at all levels in order to promote awareness of safety practices, emergency response procedures, and environmental protection.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, near-misses and identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and industry groups, to promote HSE initiatives and share best practices.

  • Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) Management

  • Manage the effective implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and processes to promote a culture focusing on the achievement of world class standards in QHSE and sustainability within HSSE in line with regulatory requirements.

Reporting

  • Ensure that all HSSE reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet Nesma & Partners requirements, policies, and quality standards.

Technical Essential

Education/Certification

  • Bachelors in Engineering, or any other related field.

Experience

  • 6 years’ related experience with 2 years’ experience with growing managerial accountability in roles within similar positions.

Techical Preferred

Education/Certification

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar certifications.

  • Experience in the EPC industry.
