Role Purpose
Lead the management and coordination of multiple technical aspects of the engineering project lifecycle, from conception to completion. Providing guidance and technical expertise for the successful delivery of high-quality engineering solutions, in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements, contributing to the efficient execution of engineering endeavors and achievement of project outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
Strategic Contribution:
Ensure effective cascading of the Engineering strategy into operating plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies.
People Management:
Manage the effective achievement of Engineering objectives through the leadership of the Engineering department by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing, and motivating staff to maximize sectional performance.
Lead the talent development initiatives for Engineering, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the Engineering to foster a value-driven culture within the organization.
Technical Engineering Management:
Formulate and champion the successful implementation of a technical engineering roadmap and initiatives, aligned with the organization's overall business goals and objectives, to drive strategic progress, innovation, and excellence in engineering endeavours.
Create a clear and actionable plan for all technical aspects of engineering projects and advocate for its execution across the Engineering function to ensure the successful and efficient delivery of engineering projects while meeting objectives, adhering to standards, and satisfying client requirements.
Provide technical engineering expertise to project managers and stakeholders, assisting them with the successful development of detailed engineering plans, to ensure alignment with project goals and schedules.
Lead the preparation, scheduling, and monitoring of all assigned technical engineering projects to ensure effective project management, timely execution, and successful project outcomes, contributing to the optimization of technical engineering operations.
Oversee the progress and completion of the technical engineering designs for projects to maintain their integrity and quality standards during project design.
Review technical engineering deliverables to ensure the accuracy, completeness, quality, and compliance of the project outputs with relevant standards, specifications, and client requirements.
Provide technical guidance and oversight to the engineering team by reviewing designs, calculations, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Ensure that all technical engineering deliverables meet the required quality standards by implementing quality control measures and conducting reviews to maintain the desired level of quality.
Conduct regular site visits to ensure that agreed standards and technical engineering strategies are implemented for future organizational revenue and success.
Stay abreast of industry-emerging engineering technologies and methodologies from a technical perspective to continuously improve engineering processes and optimize business performance.
Project Management:
Participate in the successful management of engineering projects, from the initiation to completion phase, through overseeing all technical aspects to achieve project goals within specified timelines and budget.
Provide expertise to the project management process from a technical engineering perspective to ensure alignment of project parameters and standards with industrial best practices and legislative requirements. Risk Management
To lead the identification of potential technical risks and challenges across engineering projects to develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize disruptions to engineering project timelines and deliverables.
Stakeholder Management:
Liaise with clients to understand their technical requirements and address concerns by providing technical expertise and support throughout the engineering project lifecycle.
Coordinate with relevant cross-functional teams (e.g., Project Managers, Engineers, procurement, stakeholders) to ensure technical engineering activities align with project specifications and objectives.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Manage and ensure effective implementation of policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of Engineering activity so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service. Continuous Improvement
Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Reporting:
Ensure that all Engineering reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet Nesma & Partners requirements, policies, and quality standards.
Education/Certification:
Bachelors in Engineering, Architecture, or any other related field.
Experience:
8 years’ related experience with 3 years’ experience with growing managerial accountability in roles within similar positions.
